From my understanding homemade meals for dogs is good and bad. Good because you are able to monitor what the pup eats and bad cause they may not get all the required nutrients. Apparently they need protein, veggies, a healthy fat, calcium, and carbs. I found out Apple boy was allergic to kibble, so I started cooking all of Apple's meals in chicken broth, crumble a zesty paw multivitamin (to make sure he gets some support), and drizzle it in olive oil. I like to meal prep his meals in these bowls I get from Target. I got nine of em so ion have to cook his meals for another week or so. The rice goes first, then the protein, then his vegetables, and then i cover each bowl in saran wrap. Ion think he too much like the salmon, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. He'll eat it for a few seconds then walk away then go back to it. He does this cycle for about five more times before he leaves it alone. I will let it sit there until he eats almost all of it cause it's good for him! He loves salmon and broccoli so I am not sure why he being so picky. It must be the sweet potatoes. I probably won't add it next time round. It is a new addition so maybe he not used to it yet. His all time favorite is chicken, carrots, and broccoli. He will leave me be for a good lil min cause he being greedy. Then come back in my face with chicken and rice caught in the fur round his mouth, #ew.
As for the rice, ground turkey, green beans and broccoli....He loves it. I think a lil more than the chicken one. I was scared he wasn't gon like it, like the salmon one. I ran out of broccoli the other day so I used green beans and carrots instead. I think I may retire the broccoli. Idk yet, maybe I won't use it as much, it just gets spoiled so quick. Cooking ground turkey is so stink too. If you read all this then yk, I am clearly lacking a calcium supplement for my boy. Imma either buy some or make my own from eggshells (wash em then dry em out in the oven for about ten minutes @ 250). Apple loves fruit. His favorites are watermelon, blueberries, and I just got him into apples. He hates bananas, which is a dern disgrace cause his momma loves them. I give him blueberries as a snack, three to four at a time. We sit and eat watermelon together for breakfast about once to twice a week. Really depends, cause if the watermelon not red enough I'm not buying them #imisspublix. I tried to give him apples before, explained to him that they have the same name, he took it, ran in the room, and hid it under the blanket so I assumed he didn't like them. But the other day when I was making mini hello kitty apple pies I gave him one and he loved them. Next we will try mangoes. He also loves ice cream. The peanut butter and banana one from Dog-Os is his favorite. Very odd if you ask me since he dont like bananas.
